It is not necessarily a dig on your record but simply an issue with the large number of background checks that are requested in your area. Your recruiter should have communicated the issue to you sooner but it is likely out of their control. You need to contact your recruiter and see if you can change your basic dates to a time that allows you to start school.
Depend on if tis online or on campus classes. If you have sworn in and taken the oath then you must complete your time in service. The military will also help you pay for school once you return. Unfortunately you can’t, once you sign your contract, you cant simply back out of it. You’ll have to wait out the process of the background check. YES you can always back out as long as you did not sign anything the recruiter will try to push you to stay and wait but if the background check did not go through that you dont have to sign anything and you can go back to school.
If you swore in, you cannot back out. But, you can be chaptered out, and theres a few ways of doing that. But I don’t recommend it.
